Influence of corneal spherical aberration, anterior chamber depth, and ocular axial length on the visual outcome with an extended depth of focus wavefront-designed intraocular lens

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate which ocular parameters have an impact on visual results obtained after extended depth focus (EDF) wavefront-designed intraocular lens (IOL). Setting: conducted in three Italian centers (private practice Lucca and two ambulatory surgical Pisa Rome) from 01/09/2014 30/09/2015. Design: population included 178 eyes 91 patients who had cataract surgery implantation EDF wavefront - designed IOL (Mini Well Ready SIFI Med Tech S.r.l.). Methods: Preoperative postoperative refractive corneal spherical aberration (SA), axial length, or anterior chamber were measured. Results: majority spectacle-independent for near, intermediate, distance vision no one reported disturbing halos glare. No overall significant differences observed when stratifying (ACD) length (AL) by uncorrected acuity (UCDVA); p = 0.465 1.000 respectively, corrected (CDVA); near (UCNVA); 0.728 respectively; under both halos; parameters. Still, there a statistically difference SA with 5 mm only UDVA (p 0.040). Conclusion: These are consistent similar outcomes scientific literature as measured tests acuity, either without optical correction. We also demonstrated that these IOLs can be used myopic hyperopic eyes, although it may useful preoperative achieve better results.
